The piece is notable for its numerous sparkling melodies and compelling musical drama\, and within a short space of time countless opera houses around the world were including it in their repertoire. It is not without reason that the principal roles – the English queen Anne Boleyn\, who has fallen from her husband’s favour\, her lady-in-waiting and new lover of the king Jane Seymour\, and Henry VIII and Lord Percy – are to this day on the wishlist of the greatest singers. In April 2011\, this belcanto jewel was performed for the first time at the Vienna State Opera.\n
