Ever since his world premiere in Paris\, France\, in 1841 it is one of the few ballets with perpetual tradition of performance.\nIn the First (the romantic) Act\, Giselle a peasant girl meets Count Albrecht who came to hunt in the vicinity of her village. She falls in love so deep without knowing his noble background. Hilarion\, the gamekeeper who also loves Giselle\, learns who Albrecht is. So\, when Albrecht and his entourage\, Albrecht’s fiancée Bathilde with him\, arrive to the village Hilarion unveils the truth before the people. Giselle can not stand the lie and dies of pain.\nThe Second Act (the fantastic one): the Wilis dance. They\, in fact\, are girls who died before their wedding. During the night they get out of their graves and dances. Every person seeing their dance must die. That night it is Hilarion that enters the forest first\, but soon Albrecht comes\, too. They express their love for Giselle. The Wilis surround Hilarion and kill him. Albrecht is saved by the Giselle’s love for him. She keeps him awake all night long\, dancing around him till dawn. The sun rises and the Wilis disappear.
