The Croatian National Theatre – Split (Croatia)

The most renowned Macedonian dancer and choreographer, respected for his unique artistic creations, spirit, enthusiasm and magnetic temperament once again proved his dominance on the international stage by taking over the role of artistic director of the Croatian National Theatre in Split. It is at this institution that Igor Kirov continues to cultivate the tradition of classical and modern ballet repertoire, continuously seeking new dance aesthetics, modes and directions of expression. “On the Road” is a musical-stage work which stands on the line between dream and reality. Using Johann Sebastian Bach’s genious “Goldberg Variations”, the work combines classical and modern dance elements, performed by 17 dancers. It is a work which demonstrates that imagination, dynamics and technical superiority are the core of Kirov’s art of choreography. “On the Road” is a performance that you watch glued to the chair in one breath –  in 57 minutes before your eyes a series of 32 dance stories pass, stories that dive into each other, in a continuous sequence and sophisticated body motion, only to die down at the end. With “On the Road”, Igor Kirov where his immense talent, authenticity and artistic reflection enable him to reach places where not so many others have.
