Children’s operetta “Spring Story” by renowned Macedonian composer Stojan Stojkov depicts the awakening of spring and the nature in it. The musical expression of the work corresponds to the aesthetic and technical elements adapted to the children’s age, whereas the harmonic elements are simple, with clear tonal basis. The work contains all the elements of the operatic genre: chorus, coloists, duets, ballet and instrumental foundation, while the author also introduces narrators who tell the story through reciting. Inspired by children’s poetry by several Macedonian poets, and dramatic adaptation by Stojkov, the musical content of “Spring Story” gives a special role to Orff instruments. Children’s choir “Falsetto” was formed in March 2016 and counts 40 members between the ages of 9-15. The main idea and aim of the ensemble is to introduce children to the world of classical opera, to enable them master the choral vocal technique and acquire choral culture. The main activities of the young chorists are focused on participation in big opera productions, where they get the opportunity to perform shoulder to shoulder to renowned opera names. In this way, the choir contributes to rasing the awareness, interest and level of musical culture in children and prepare them for their future development as professional musicians, composers, conductors… The choir is led by Tea Bogatinova, graduated musician, composer, conductor and longtime choral singer and lover of choir music.
