The story demystifies/deconstructs the five courtesans by rewriting them as five women who marked Picasso’s tumultuous love life and the relationships these women have with “characters without important properties,” as the playwright wrote. These five love stories, around which a fly is constantly buzzing, form a whole in the conspiracy against the fly – in order to kill it, and by killing it – to absorb it into itself forever.
